We got off in the Bur Dubai section, near the Dubai Museum (pictured below, which unfortunately we did not have time to visit). We first visited a market that specializes in pashmina shawls and of course left with several in hand. After that we crossed Dubai Creek on the water bus, old wooden boats run by even older gasoline engines. On the other side are the two old souks, the Dubai Spice Souk and the Dubai Gold Souk. We did buy some spices but not any gold; haggling over pashminas and spices was exhausting enough. But if you have a last-minute urge to buy gold, there are gold vending machines all over the UAE.
On our last night in the Arabian Peninsula we had dinner at home with our wonderful hosts. Paola, Ricardo, Felipe, and Isabel, we loved seeing you guys and are grateful for your hospitality and friendship. Thanks for the good times and memories and we hope to see you soon somewhere.
